Ernest Linden, President, To Open Session I at SID 2004 Exhibitors' Forum in Seattle PDF Print E-mail

Phoenix, Arizona USA, April 6, 2004 - Ernest Linden, president of TLC International, has been selected by the Program Chair, Dr. Josef Lapp of Corning, to lead Session 1 of the Society for Information Display 2004 Exhibitors' Forum on Tuesday, May 25, at 10:30A in Exhibit Hall A in Seattle, Washington USA. This technical presentation, entitled Quick, Clean, Cost-Effective Singulation of FPDs, will reveal how TLC's equipment and technology advancements are creating global recognition for cost reduction FPD manufacturing. Well known globally as one of the leading close tolerance glass and microsheet cutting technologists, Mr. Linden will present information on TLC's latest single sheet and laminated glass cutting technology achievements with the Gen-3 TLC Phoenix-600® High-accuracy Mechanical Glass Cutter.

The new Gen-3 TLC Phoenix-600® software, released in March 2004, easily programs "shapes alignment" for maximum substrate real estate utilization. Layout is no longer limited to rows and columns. Fast target setting and 100% repeatable alignment results in fast, simple singulation of X-Y, curvilinear (D-shapes, filet-corner rectangles) and multilinear (hexagons, parallelograms, trapezoids, etc.) shaped FPDs to exacting tolerances. The cutting process, utilizing Toyo standard or TAP carbide wheels, is quick, cool and clean (no contaminating oil/water), to provide cost-effective back-end processing of FPDs, microdisplays and photonics-related components. If contamination control is an issue, TLC's equipment is capable of cutting through Nitto® tape and other protective membranes.

A short question/answer session for process development assistance will be included. To meet with Mr. Linden after his presentation, please visit Booth 148 at SID 2004. Prior to SID 2004, please call his office
