Introducing New Toyo Deep Cut Carbide Wheels that will Revolutionize Laminated Substrate Singulation PDF Print E-mail

Phoenix, Arizona USA, June 24 2002 - TLC International launched the brand new Toyo Deep Cut tungsten carbide wheel at SID 2002 Boston. Since that time, favorable customer reports confirm that these innovative wheels will revolutionize laminate panel singulation processing. The unique (proprietary) finish on the Deep Cut wheels drives scribe energy nearly 20% deeper into a substrate without additional pressure, thereby reducing edge chips and surface damage during breakout. The Deep Cut wheel also incorporates Toyo's TAP wheel (notched ID) design, so that it vibrates during rotation on the axle, also increasing the depth of scribe energy.

Laminates, which require scribing on Side 1, then on Side 2, obviously pose more difficult breakout than single sheet glass. Deeper penetration on the two substrates greatly simplifies breakout of scribed panels. The Deep Cut wheel also demonstrates improvement in curvilinear cutting, as the deeper vent makes shaped part breakout much less difficult.

Combining a Toyo Deep Cut wheel with TLC's calibrated wheel placement accuracy, the TLC Phoenix-600 high-accuracy glass cutter provides close tolerance, maximum throughput cutting performance, clean afterbreak edge quality and high yields for all thin, flat glass applications such as FPDs, microdisplays, liquid crystal on silicon, polarizing filters, electrochromic mirrors, quartz and a myriad other substrates. The cutting process is fast, clean, and dry -- requiring no oil or water.

See the TLC Phoenix-600 and Toyo's Deep Cut wheel demonstrated at electronicAsia 2002, October 11-14, in the Hong Kong Convention Center. For further information, please email Marketing Director, Maribeth V. Linden
